Hypocrites Are Dangerous

Hypocrites Are Dangerous

Proverbs 11:9 KJV “An HYPOCRITE WITH HIS MOUTH destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.”

It is the course of wisdom to avoid hypocrites. They are dangerous people. They are liars, gossips, slanderers, revilers, etcetera. Among those responsible for the death of Jesus were the Pharisees, some of the worse hypocrites ever. Like them there are many today. These love to hide behind the guise of God. Imagine using God’s name to obtain your evil desires. That is a special kind of evil. (Matthew 6:23) Fiery judgment awaits them!😩

Is it injustice for God to appoint hypocrites to the lake of fire? God can do no evil, so no it’s not unfair. Imagine all your life pretending to be what you’re not (lying)? Using a phony relationship with God to get people to lower their guard, trick them, and get from them what you want?😇 Then once you’ve earned thier trust and are finished using them you deal them that betrayal blow? Ouch! How painful.😩 You’re also the kind of person that enjoys doing this to people again and again?😆 Nah, it is not unjust for God to send such to the lake of fire:

Revelation 21:8 KJV “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and ALL LIARS, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

There’s only one way not to burn: turn! Turn from our sins or we will burn from our sins. Jesus says repent or perish. (Luke 13:1-5) The choice is ours.

I Corinthians 5:11‭-‬13 NKJV “But now I have written to you NOT TO KEEP COMPANY WITH ANYONE NAMED A BROTHER, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner—not even to eat with such a person. For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside? But those who are outside God judges. Therefore “put away from yourselves the evil person.””

God says we are to judge those inside the church who are called brother (Christians) but are living totally opposite of that profession. When Christians sin in ways mentioned above and refuse to repent GOD SAYS, “PUT AWAY FROM YOURSELVES THE EVIL PERSON.” This is not a suggestion it is a command. And it’s not a contradiction of Matthew 7:1 which says, “Judge not, that you be not judged.” (Matthew 7:1) God never contradicts Himself. In Matthew 7:1 Jesus isn’t talking about sins that hurt the church in ways mentioned at 1 Corinthians chapter 5. In 1 Corinthians 5 there was a man who was having sex with his father’s wife.😳 Yes, his own mother or mother in-law. This was a heinous sin! And the church wasn’t doing anything about it. For some reason they did not feel the need to judge the offender. Paul wrote the Corinthian church and clarified that this was indeed a matter to be judged by the whole church. (1 Corinthians 5:1-5)

There are similar situations when judgments should be made for the health of the churches sake. Unrepentant sin of this kind if left unchecked can work through and destroy an entire church. (1 Corinthians 5:6) A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough. Yes, Christians are commanded by Jesus Christ to judge such matters with righteous judgment:

John 7:24 NKJV “Do not judge according to appearance, but JUDGE with righteous judgment.”

Sadly when some in the church are approached even gently about a sin they are caught in they take it personal. Oftentimes these words come flying out, “Who are you to judge me?”😠

“Who are you to judge me?”😠 Isn’t that what religious hypocrites say whenever confronted about the most devilish sins? Once they know their masks have fallen off and you can now see them for who they really are they go on the attack. If someone claims to be a Christian and is caught in a sin GOD HIMSELF SAYS to reach out and help the erring brother or sister gently:

Galatians 6:1‭-‬2 ESV “Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”

Sadly when some in the church are approached even gently about a sin they are caught in they take it personal. Oftentimes these words come flying out, “Who are you to judge me?”😠 If this happens to you remember Jesus says you have authority from Him to, “judge with righteous judgment.” Just be sure that it’s truly righteous judgement based only on God’s word and not our feelings. Also remember that we who teach others will be judged too even more severely by the Lord the Bible says. (James 3:1)🤔

If a sin is committed of the nature described in 1 Corinthians chapter 5 verse 11 we are commanded by God to judge those inside the church while God judges those outside. Don’t allow folks to put guilt trips on you for doing what our Father says. People who refuse to repent while claiming to be Christians are dangerous. May we obey God in this matter. (Romans 16:17-18)
